Reaction
Cllr Jane Evison who chairs H.A.R.T. Community Transport said “We are all absolutely delighted to have the very worthwhile service that H.A.R.T. provides acknowledged and rewarded. Of all the work I have been involved with over the years the success of H.A.R.T. is particularly special. I am always humbled by the kind comments from the people who use H.A.R.T. and their stories of the difference our transport has made to their lives. Our philosophy at H.A.R.T. is the passenger comes first and it would seem that is appreciated by our customers. However, without the commitment of the volunteers who give hours of their time and our staff none of it would be possible”
H.A.R.T. Business Manager Caroline Wegryzn added “This award will mean so much to the drivers and volunteers at H.A.R.T., we all care so much about the service we provide and our passengers who we know so well. I think what makes H.A.R.T. different is the way we operate the service, we are flexible and innovative about the way we meet community needs. We have ensured our passengers can access the bus pass scheme and above all we promote equality for elderly and disabled passengers in rural areas. We also remember that young people have problems getting access to transport in rural areas and do what we can to help them”
Notes To Editors Five Rural Parish Councils started H.A.R.T. in 2003 with a bid for funding for one bus and a part time driver to help people in rural villages area attend hospital appointments.
