The Community Transport Initiative aims to meet the challenge of providing cost-effective, socially inclusive transport in a large, rural area with a dispersed population.

East Riding of Yorkshire council is responsible for a population of which three-quarters live rurally, so providing viable, cost-effective public transport is a huge challenge. Its community transport initiative improves access to transport, uses vehicles more efficiently, and reduces the impact on the environment. The project also addresses the issue of securing a sustainable future for community transport groups, which play a key role in combating rural isolation. H.A.R.T. run their own MEDiBUS service for Hornsea and the Driffield MEDiBUS on behalf of ERYC. H.A.R.T. also deliver a number of the MiBUS services. Read More:
