Flamborough Today - Praise for Flamborough Dial a Ride Community Transport bus scheme By John Edwards
A Dial a Ride Community Transport bus, which takes Flamborough residents to supermarkets in Bridlington, has been hailed a success. Each Friday, the Holderness Area Rural Transport scheme runs a service from the village to help people without transport.
Over a year ago, local people made requests to East Riding of Yorkshire Council, campaigning for improved public transport service. This was passed on to HART, which held a consultation exercise at the village hall. Thanks to the interest in the scheme, it set up the weekly service, which leaves the village at 10am with concessions on the fares, and since day one the bus has been full. Coun Jane Evison, chairman of HART, said: "We are delighted to have been able to step in and help, the service has been so successful we are now at a stage where we need to run a double journey. "The feedback we are receiving from passengers is very positive and they all have very good things to say about the bus and our driver. "Presently we run into Morrisons but we are happy to serve Tesco too".
